Before going abroad, you must meet with a BIP Adviser to approve your plans and to ensure that you will be able to successfully complete the minor.
Completed applications are evaluated by the appropriate study abroad office. Deadlines for applications are firm, so you should plan to complete yours well in advance.
Upon returning from abroad, you must fill out the Petition for Credit for Courses Taken Abroad form and return it to the BIP office with a course syllabus and a transcript from the university you studied at.
Our program Director/Assistant Director will determine if you can get credit towards the BIP minor.
You must then drop the form off at The Office of Undergraduate Studies and Advising (OUSA) for the credit to be officially transferred.
The following link contains a list of classes that BIP students have taken abroad and counted towards their minor when graduating under the old BIP requirements.
Credits listed indicate the BIP requirement that the course was substituted for.
BIP 3XX means that the course counted as one BIP Field Course under the old requirements.
Since the new BIP requirements are just going into effect as of Fall 2016, no study abroad courses have yet been taken or approved for credit towards the BIP minor for students graduating under the new requirements.
As courses are approved, a list of courses that BIP students have taken abroad and counted toward their minor when graduating under the new BIP requirements will be posted on this website.
